President Corrine opened the meeting by welcoming everyone and gave an opening prayer. She turned the program over the Miriam Circle. Janette Colbenson opened with prayer and Ann Bartelson introduced the speaker, Sherryl Brunner, pastor of Well House Ministry. The ministry has recently purchased the old school in Rushford with plans to turn it into a healing spa for persons in need, specifically veterans, abused persons and cancer survivors and their families. She gave a short history of how this vision came about. After living in different cities, she had a dream that brought her back to Rushford. When the school became available, they started plans for this venture. They have applied for grants hoping for funds to get the project started. She also asked to volunteer to help in any way, starting in the spring. Ann closed the program with a poem, “A Thankful Heart”
President Corrine called the business meeting to order. The secretary’s report was read and approved. The treasurer’s report was read and approved showing a balance on hand of $5,074.74.
Old Business: Corrine thanked all who helped with the cod fish supper and those who baked pies. The pie baking brought in $1304.00. She reminded everyone of the bazaar next Sat. Karla Holland reported that the ladies baked 55 dozen strull, 42 dozen flatbread, 66 dozen hardtack and 99 dozen rosettes. This amounted to 200 volunteer hours. There was no report from the nominating committee.
New Business: Corrine reminded everyone to remember their Thank Offerings at Thanksgiving and that each circle should have their financial reports for the Dec. meeting as well as quilting, prayer shawl and baptismal shawl reports. A motion was made, seconded and passed to give $1300 from the pie sales to the tower restoration project. It was decided to pay whatever is needed for postage for the Shoe Box collections after all donations are received. A motion was made, seconded and passed to give $500 to the Cords family burn fund. The December meeting will be potluck and circles drew to bring salads, sandwiches or desserts. Two thank you notes were read. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
Announcements: Birthdays and anniversaries were recognized, and prayer request were given. The next meeting will be Dec. 4 at 1:30pm.
